Born 14 October 1980 in Dettelbach, Germany
Rainer Koch has been active since his childhood. In 1989 he participated in his first marathon, walking with his father. A few years later, some of his friends asked him to join them running and so he started running. When he was just 16 years old, he ran his first 100km at an IVV event in Belgium. He has run a lot of ultra races since then, including Spartathlon, Deutschlandlauf, Trans Europe and Trans America.
Rainer dreams to run Trans Australia or to cross another continent he has not crossed yet. He loves to run in the countryside and enjoy the landscape. He also sees running as a great opportunity to meet new people from all over the world with different cultures and languages. Finally, running motivates Rainer because running long distances builds up good condition and a strong body and mind.
